PlanSCAPE Helps Furnish New High School
Virco's PlanSCAPE service provides invaluable space planning and project management assistance for New 21st Century High School.
Oklahoma's Yukon Public Schools was funded with a $92.4 million dollar bond to construct a new state-of-the-art high school. The new Yukon High Schools' spacious 350,000-square-foot building for 9th through 12th grade students replaced two adjoining buildings - one for 9th and 10th graders, and one for 11th and 12th graders - that previously served as the district's high school. Yukon Public Schools sought an established school furniture vendor with a large product assortment and a proven track record of furnishing new construction projects.
Virco was selected to furnish and equip the new Yukon High School's 21st Century Academic Building and Athletic Facility. Virco's PlanSCAPE® service provided invaluable space planning and project management assistance. The new school had a large amount of interior space, including over 100 classrooms, a 6,500-square-foot library and a 40,000-square-foot wellness center adjacent to the football and track facilities. Because of the many different environments that required different kinds of furniture, Virco's ability to generate customized layout plans was extremely helpful. After meeting with the schools administrators and key representatives, Virco representatives modified the layouts and provided furniture samples so they could compare how various product lines would complement specific rooms. The furniture and equipment was then purchased through Virco's convenient, cost-saving U.S. Communities contract.
Yukon High's new Virco furniture items include ergonomically contoured ZUMA® Chairs and versatile ZUMA® Student Desks that can be arranged in six-desk clusters and other collaborate groupings. The ZUMA® Student Desks are perfect for project-based learning and working in teams. Yukon's teachers appreciate how Virco furniture allows them to easily create custom configurations to meet their classrooms' needs.
