The Information We Collect

Virco may collect and store any information you provide to our website or phone representatives. We keep a record of the information you provide us when you create an account, place an order, email, call, or fax us. By keeping this information, it helps us better process and track your orders. The Way We Use Information

We use the information you provide about yourself when requesting information in order to fulfill that request, and for our internal accounting and other information-keeping records related to your purchases of Virco products. We respect your privacy; therefore, we do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete your requests, or as noted below in the section entitled Our Commitment to Data Security. 

We use return e-mail addresses to answer the e-mail we receive. Such addresses may also be used for our marketing purposes, such as sending you updates or promotional materials on our products. Your email addresses are not shared with outside parties. We use your mailing address to send you literature that you requested about our products, billing invoices and other written materials related to our products. We use your shipping address, to the extent it is different from your mailing address, to ship your orders as well as to send you information on our products. We do share your shipping information with our product suppliers and shipping companies to facilitate the delivery of your orders. We use your telephone number for our sales and/or customer service representatives to contact you when you express an interest in our products or with our website if you would like to receive our catalog as well as updates on our new products and services. Information you submit on our website will not be used for this purpose unless you fill out an information request form. 

Only with your authorization does our website also share your web use information with web analytics companies that provide support services to us and need the information to do so. We do not authorize these companies to use your information for any other purpose. We may disclose information you provide to us when we believe it is appropriate to comply with the law or to protect the safety of our website or other users.

Each time you visit Virco’s website as an existing customer, you will be asked to enter your username and password in order to access your customer account. We will compile records of the number of visitors we have on our site, but will not compile your particulars if you have visited our site unless you request information. 

 

Our Commitment to Data Security

We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL),which encrypts information you input. We will transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card company during order processing. 

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we use encryption technology to keep your personal information safe. All your order information, including your first and last name and billing and shipping addresses, is encrypted using a secure server for your protection. Please note that email is not encrypted and is not considered to be a secure means of transmitting credit card information. 

Virco fully cooperates with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who use our services for illegal activities. We reserve the right to release information about persons whom we believe are in violation of our content guidelines. We also reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we reasonably believe to be unlawful. Additionally, we may disclose information about you if we determine that for national security, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary. 

It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer. 

Our Commitment to Children Policy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important to us. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information on our website from those we actually know are under the age of 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.

When you click on links that take you to third party websites, you will be subject to the third party's privacy policy. While we support the protection of privacy on the Internet, Virco cannot be responsible for the actions of third parties. California Privacy Rights

Under your California Civil Code sections 1798.83-1798.84, California residents are entitled to ask for a notice describing what categories of personal information we share with third parties or corporate affiliates for those third parties or corporate affiliates’ direct marketing purposes. That notice will identify the categories of personal information shared with third parties and used for direct marketing purposed and the name and address of the third parties that received such personal information. We will post any changes here and in other appropriate places so you'll always know what information we collect, how we keep it safe and under what circumstances we share it.
